About Me

Throughout his lengthy career in the employee benefits sector, Wellman Shew has experienced a variety of industry changes as more companies transitioned benefit plans away from traditional pension models to new programs. Other major transitions included health insurance requirements spurred by the Affordable Care Act and new marketplace options extending the reach of benefit packages to the smallest California businesses. Despite these massive transitions, Shew has retained top standing in the industry, a fact recognized in personal profiles in industry-specific publications.

In an effort to share his expertise with other industry professionals and consumers, Shew recently launched a blog on his personal website, WellmanShew.com, chronicling various aspects of employee benefits and insurance. Recent topics include the pros and cons of health savings accounts, short-term and long-term disability insurance, high-deductible health plans, umbrella insurance and how to save money on insurance. As plan options evolve, consumer education is key for helping individuals make the right choices for their health and retirement.
